BASIC (Beginner's All-purpose Symbolic Instruction Code) is a high level programming language.
Although BASIC is a programming language aimed at beginners, it is also a powerful programming tool. It was developed in 1960 by Kemeney and Kurtz as a way of teaching students how to program. However the current view is that it is not really a suitable programming language to learn in as it promotes some bad habits.
