Malbolge is an esoteric programming language that tests the limits of computing. A variant is Dis, which is like Malbolge but closer to painful instead of humanly impossible.

History[]

Malbolge was created in 1998 by Ben Olmstead. He himself did not write any programs with it. The first program, which outputted "Hello, World!" was not made until two years later.

Examples[]

"Hello, World!" in Malbolge with the capital W, comma and exclamation mark:

 (=<`#9]~6ZY32Vx/4Rs+0No-&Jk)"Fh}|Bcy?`=*z]Kw%oG4UUS0/@-ejc(:'8dc

A cat program in Malbolge reads:

(=BA#9"=<;:3y7x54-21q/p-,+*)"!h%B0/.
 ~P<
 <:(8&
 66#"!~}|{zyxwvu
 gJ%

Design[]

Malbolge is apparently a machine language for the proprietary Malbolge computing interpreter, a ternary virtual machine.
