Notepad (notepad.exe) is a text editor bundled with Microsoft Windows.

It's commonly used as a basic editor for HTML code, because Notepad does not support formatted text which would make the code harder to read. There are better alternatives, such as Notepad++, which allows syntax highlighting and a lot more which makes the coding process easier. Other editors often add in extra code that is not required.
